First Manufacturing Order – OF 0001. Beginning of the Lift Cabin Design and Manufacture operation.
Acquisition of own technology in the field of Hydraulic Lifts and outset of operation in the field of design and manufacture of such equipment.

Export of first lifts to Angola, installed at Hotel President, the highest building in Luanda at the time with 27 stories.
Acquisition of own facilities at Zona Industrial da Varziela in Vila do Conde, designed for its operation.
Awarded with the prize PME – EXCELÊNCIA INDÚSTRIA promoted by IAPMEI. Beginning of the implementation of its Quality System pursuant to standard NP EN ISO 9001:1995.
Certification by standard NP EN ISO 9001:1995 in the scope of Lift Design, Manufacture, Installation and Maintenance. Expansion of operation to the south region of Portugal by opening a branch in Lisbon. Awarded once more with the PME – EXCELÊNCIA INDÚSTRIA promoted by IAPMEI.
One thousandth lift manufacture arising from company operation including the entire lift cycle (design, project, manufacture, installation and technical support). Switch in logo to a contemporary design. Once again awarded with the PME - EXCELÊNCIA INDÚSTRIA promoted by IAPMEI.
Extension to Directive 95/16/CE – Lifts, annex XIII (Module H) that recognized its competence by allowing the placement of the CE marking in all lifts installed by the company. Acquisition of an integrated management programme so all GRUPNOR services could be run in the same database. Awarded once more with the PME – EXCELÊNCIA INDÚSTRIA promoted by IAPMEI.
Manufacture of the two thousandth lift, the first electric MLR (Machine Room Less) type equipment, 100% manufactured by GRUPNOR.
Beginning of the internationalization process, by attending the main International Lifts Exhibitions, namely in Barcelona and Augsburg. Installation of its 1st Moving Walkway, thereby expanding its product range.
Start of the facility expansion process. Design of its first inclined lift OF 2500. Operation extended to the Algarve, therefore encompassing all Portuguese territory. Adhesion to programme “Compro o que é nosso” that allowed the use of this brand that promotes and values Portuguese products.
Registration of the brand GRUPNOR®. Completion of internationalization process and beginning of exports to the United Kingdom.
Ending of facilities expansion process that are now occupying a covered area of 5.000 m2. Invitation to join the European Federation of Elevator Small and Medium-sizes Enterprises (EFESME), based in Brussels. GRUPNOR was the only Portuguese company in this important European Forum.
GRUPNOR’s 30th anniversary. Assignment of the 3000th Manufacture Order (OF 3000) to manufacture an electric MRL (Machine Room Less) lift with a 2:1 system. Beginning of company digital era by computerising FATE – Ficha de Assistência Técnica a Equipamentos (Technical Support Form) that became 100% digital. Inauguration of the new facilities in honour of Eng.º Giovanni Casella whose name was given to the building.
